Richard J. Sarli, 64, of Johnston, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at home. He was the beloved husband of Gertrude (Box) Sarli. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Lena (Dorazio) Sarli.
Richard became a Master Toolmaker while at Imperial Knife and was Department Manager at Klitzner Industries, where he was recognized with their “Employee of the Year” award. He also served a term as President of the RI Jewelers and Silversmith Association. A graduate of Rhode Island College, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He served in the RI Air National Guard as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Specialist, earning an Achievement Medal for bravery. Also, he once sat on the board of the Finance Committee at Our Lady of Grace Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Kevin P. Sarli and his wife, Denice Sarli; his daughter, Kim-Marie Stalaboin and her husband, Joseph Stalaboin and five grandchildren, Katelynn Stalaboin, Alyssa Stalaboin, Lorelai Sarli. Madelyn Sarli and Elliot Sarli. He was the brother of the late Anthony Sarli.
His funeral will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Visitation Sunday 4-7 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
