Peter Coccoli, Jr., 70, of Scituate, died Monday, August 10, 2009 at his home. He was the loving husband of Elaine A. (Rao) Coccoli for the past forty-seven years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Peter Coccoli and Elvira (Dilibero) Coccoli and resided with his family on Modena Avenue in Providence before moving to Scituate in 2007.

Mr. Coccoli served for many years as the Architectural Access Coordinator for the Handicap Access Program in the State Building Commissioner’s Office after a long career as a general contractor. He served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives and was a member of Rhode Island Association of Former Legislators and served as Chaplain of the Sons of Italy, Mancini Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and their children: Lynn Coccoli Abbott and her husband David V. Abbott; Leslie Coccoli Tirocchi and her husband Joseph Tirocchi; Peter Coccoli, III and his wife Christine Breard Coccoli; and Michelle Coccoli Mare and her husband Steve Mare. Peter Coccoli was the devoted grandfather to nine beloved grandchildren: Toryanna, Brianna, and Milan Mare; Hannah and Emily Abbott; Ilana and Jared Tirocchi; and Peter and Aaron Coccoli. Mr. Coccoli is also survived by his brother, Anthony Coccoli of Texas and by his sister, Arline Coccoli Calderone of Wakefield.

His funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 Richmond St., Providence, RI 02903.
