NICHOLAS A. SAMMARTINO, 88, of Providence , passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Epoch Senior Living in Providence. He was the husband of Antonette (Calenda) Sammartino. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Rocco and Lucy (Icobone) Sammartino.

Nicholas was the owner of Nick's Restaurant in Providence for 30 years. An Army Veteran of WW II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1954.

Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves two sons, Nicholas Sammartino and his wife Karen and Stephen Sammartino; two brothers, Edward and Robert Sammartino and two grandchildren, Adrianna and Nicholas Sammartino. He was the brother of the late Louis Sammartino.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. In St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Atwood Ave, Johnston. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-7 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Closet, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919. maceroni.com
