Nicholas Pagliaro

September 24, 1920 — July 31, 2013

NICHOLAS (NICOLO) PAGLIARO, 92, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Bernardino and Giuseppina (Russo) Pagliaro. Mr. Pagliaro graduated Bryant & Stratton College. He served in the Pacific theater during WWII as a Technical Sergeant/Master Sergeant for the US Army and received three bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon discharge, he worked for the U.S. federal government (War Dept. and General Accounting Office) for over 30 years. He had a successful second career with Rhode Island Housing & Mortgage for more than 20 years, retiring at 80 years old. Mr. Pagliaro was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus-Dillon Council, a member of the Lions Club, the RI Historical Society and Save the Bay. A lifelong avid Yankees fan, he enjoyed watching sports and playing golf. He is survived and missed by his beloved wife of 67 years, Leonilda “Lee” (Rossi) Pagliaro, four sons, Ronald, Nicholas , Bernard , and Michael, and a daughter, Claudia. He was the beloved grandfather of five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Pagliaro is survived by two brothers Bernardino and Rocco Pagliaro, both of Johnston.
Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 18 King Philip St., Providence. Graveside Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Holy Cross Church Memorial Fund, 18 King Philip St., Providence, RI 02909.
