Nicholas A. Capaldi, 73, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Maryann (Tavone) Capaldi for nearly 52 years. Nick was born in Providence, the son of Gaetano and Pasqualina (Montouri) Capaldi.
Nick was a U.S. Army Veteran who enjoyed telling of his Army travels as if they were yesterday. He was an operating engineer (International Union of Operating Engineers) in the heavy construction industry for over 40 years. He was blessed in that he truly enjoyed his trade.
Outside of his work, he enjoyed cars, fishing, boating and going out to dinner with his wife and friends and, given a cocktail or two, he could belt out a decent “My Way.” He took pride in his home and enjoyed spending time there with his wife, pets, children and grandchildren, who visited often and miss him already, but are thankful for the memories; they are eternal.
Besides his wife, he’ll be missed by his son Nicholas and daughter Susan (Pepe), daughter-in-law Joan (Heston), son-in-law Albert Pepe, his sister Claire and her husband Frank King, his sister Alice and her husband Romeo Johnson, his brother Isadore (Tuggy), brother and sister-in-law Richard and Jean Tavone, three grandchildren, Nicholas, Mathew (Pepe) and Briana, many nieces and nephews and great friends and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In Nick's memory, please direct any memorial donations to your local humane society.
