Michael Luzzi

Michael Luzzi, 93, of North Providence, a retired Federal Employee, died at the RI Veterans Home on Friday, August 21, 2015. He was the husband of the late Mary (Ricci) Luzzi. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Mariano and Anna (Calcione) Luzzi.

His 37 year Federal Government career included service in the U.S. Army during WWII, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Veterans Administration. His tenure at the VA spanned three professional modalities, Medical Administrative Officer, Claims Examiner/Adjudicator, Educational Liaison Officer and Benefits Specialist. He was a communicant of the former St. Lawrence Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council #2234, organization representative of the Boy Scouts Troop 33, President of the North Providence West Little League, R.I. Department Commander of the American Veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, a member of the Italian-American War Veterans, Italian Genealogy Society of America and the R.I. Historical Society.

He leaves two sons, Michael M. Luzzi and David Luzzi, a daughter Sandra Luzzi-Sneesby and four grandchildren, Meryl, Mark, Grace and Lily. He is also survived by three sisters, Virginia Luzzi, Lillian Dimeo and Marilyn Luzzi, and a long time companion Rose Coppola. He was the brother of the late Amelia Baldisseri, Anna and Edward N. Luzzi.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 9am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Tuesday, August 25th from 5-8pm.
