Mary Montanaro

MARY (ALGENI) MONTANARO, 93, formerly of Johnston, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Victoria Court, Cranston her home for the past four years where she received loving care from their staff and enjoyed warm friendships with fellow residents. She was the wife of the late Louis Montanaro, her husband of 58 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Filomena (Damiano) Algeni.

Mrs. Montanaro was a waitress at Club 44 for 20 years retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Manton Seniors, Cedar Spring Terrace Association and the Holy Cross Church Womens Guild.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Montanaro, and his wife Deborah; two daughters, Lois Arsenault and Marcia Montanaro and her companion, David Balsamo; a brother, Albert Algeni; a sister, Barbara Rotondo; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Rita Croce, Irene O’Brien and Evelyn Montanaro. She also leaves her devoted friend, Claire Cipriano. She was the sister of the late Nancy Byrne, Joseph Algeni and Ann Pellegrini. She was the mother-in-law of the late Edmund Arsenault.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Hartford Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Tuesday 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to Holy Cross Church Memorial Fund, 18 King Philip St., Providence, RI 02909.
