Luigi “Louis” Viti, 75, of Providence, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 in Tar Heel, NC. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Civita (Maggiacomo) Viti.
He had worked for his family business, the former Viti Brothers Oil Company of Providence. He was President of the Board of Directors of the Federal Hill Tutorial Center and was Director of New Homes for Federal Hill. He also served on the State Democratic Representative Committee, District 8.
Louis was a loving father and grandfather. He leaves his three daughters, Andrea Greene, Elena Goulet and Elisabeth Viti; a brother, Anthony Viti; three sisters, Gloria Melino, Connie Della Grotta and Marie Montecalvo and a grandson, Evan Greene.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9am, from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St Paul Church, Cranston. Visitation Friday 4-7pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 01907.
