LUCY M. CORONA, of North Providence, formerly of Providence where she lived for 75 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. She was the beloved wife of Pasco A. “Pat” Corona. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Domenic Amicarelli and Anna F. (Pettine) Amicarelli-Antenucci and the step daughter of the late Ralph Antenucci.

She had worked for the Providence School Department as a Teachers Assistant for 26 years until her retirement and was a member of International Union, Local 1033. She was a Democratic State Committee Woman for 18 years and was influential in the nomination and election of many Democratic candidates. She had been a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Woman’s League for 50 years and served as its President for seven years. For 15 years, she volunteered as a secretary at Blessed Sacrament Church Rectory. She was also a member of the Salvatore Mancini Chapter of the Sons of Italy.

Lucy’s primary concern was her family. She was a loving wife and mother and a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She was an extraordinary cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her recipes were often incorporated into many Italian Cookbooks.

Besides her husband of 60 years, she leaves three sons, Donald Corona and his wife Maria, Michael Corona and David Corona and his wife Ann Marie; three daughters, Loreen Corona-Russell and her husband Michael Russell, Ann Marie Corona and Michele Cappalli and her husband Thomas Cappalli, Sr.; a brother, Domenic Amicarelli; a sister Gilda Colannino; a sister-in-law, Anna Spadetti; six grandchildren, Mathew, Lea, Michael Jr. Charissa, Thomas Jr. and Ariana; a great grandson, Jared and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends. She was the sister of the late Peter Spadetti.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave., Providence. VISITATION, Friday 2-4, 6-8pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
