LINDA J. MARKEY (BUCCI), 56, of North Providence, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Markey for 31 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Emilia (Mignanelli) Bucci and the late Frank Bucci, Sr.
Linda had worked as a Special Needs Instructor at North Providence High School for many years before retiring. She was an Adjunct Professor for Rhode Island College, training new teachers while working with the Pawtucket School System. In Central Connecticut, she was a Special Needs instructor for the local East Haddam School District which also served the regional area. Mrs. Markey also worked in clinical and educational positions with the Middletown Connecticut School Department.
Linda was a Graduate of Providence College. Her post graduate studies include Providence College, Rhode Island College, Central Connecticut State University and Middlesex Community College.
Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter, Jessica L. Markey; two sisters, Joyce J. Pascucci and Cynthia D. Rico; two nephews, Michael Markey and John Rico; and five nieces, Bethany Wiffin, Kristine Pascucci, Jennifer Markey, Laura McLaughlin, and Kathryn Rico. She was the grandmother of the late Gia Bella Markey/Johnson and the sister of the late Frank Bucci, Jr.
Her funeral will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Interment will be in Saint. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
