August 19, 1925 — January 22, 2016

JOSEPH O. SALVADORE, 90, of Cranston, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at Elmhurst Extended Care. Born in Norton, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Michele and Maria Grazia (Costantino) Salvadore.

He is survived by his three devoted sons, David J. Salvadore and his wife, Lori, of Johnston, Joseph C. Salvadore, Esquire and his wife, Maria, of Lincoln and Christopher P. Salvadore and his wife, Elaine, of Barrington; a brother, Guido R.Salvadore, Esquire; seven cherished grandchildren, Joseph D. Salvadore and his wife, Francesca, Lorin M. Salvadore, Christian J. Salvadore, Jessica M. Salvadore, Andrew D. Salvadore, Jennifer Taylor Salvadore, Nicholas J. Salvadore; and a treasured great grandson, Nico D. Salvadore. He also leaves his companion, Loretta Y.Muto. He was the brother of the late Andrea "Sal" R. Salvadore, Armando A.Salvadore, Amleto U. Salvadore, Yolanda C. Capelli, Egidia M. Corio and Flora O.DiCristofaro.

Mr. Salvadore grew up on Federal Hill in Providence. He was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1944. He was a member of the varsity football team and participated in other clubs and organizations. Following further study, Joe joined his brothers, Sal and Mal at Salvadore Tool & Findings, Inc. shortly after the company's founding in 1945. Starting in the humble beginnings of the basement of Sal's home, through craft, hard work, skill and determination, the company grew and prospered, expanding, occupying several factories in Providence. Over the years, the brothers acquired other companies, continuing their growth and climb to success. With the foresight and business acumen of Mr. Salvadore and his brothers, Salvadore Tool & Findings, Inc. grew to be one of the largest costume jewelry metal stamping manufacturer in the United States. Affiliate companies now include Sage Manufacturing, Inc., Fulford Findings, A. A. Clouet, Inc., all of Providence. Mr.Salvadore was active in the costume jewelry industry and a member of many trade related organizations for over 50 years.

Joe was an accomplished golfer and an active member of Metacomet Country Club for over a half-century. Mr. Salvadore had many interests including sports, biographies, politics, current events and world affairs. He was a very well read man and a keen investor. Joe had a passion for automobilies and had owned several classic cars that were his pride and joy. Most of all was family and his sons. He was a most devoted father who took great pride in the accomplishments of his sons and in his grandchildren. Mr. Salvadore enjoyed travelling and spending time with friends at his home in Florida. He leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Joe Salvadore was a generous man who cared about others and helped many. He contributed extensively to worthwhile causes throughout his lifetime.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith Street., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
