Joseph P. Mallozzi

October 2, 1930 — February 20, 2015

Joseph Peter Mallozzi, 84, a resident of North Providence for the past 46 years, died Friday at RI Hospital in Providence. Born in Frosolone, Italy, he was the youngest son of the late Domenico and Filomena (Marsella) Mallozzi. He came to the United States from Italy in 1938, living in New Jersey before coming to Rhode Island. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and The Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in architecture in 1957. He was the former director of the American Institute of Architects, a former president of the Italian American Historical Society and former Vice President of the RI Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute. In addition he was named as one of the outstanding Italian Americans in RI. He also taught architecture at NE Tech, Roger Williams University as well as Davies Vocational. He was president of Mallozzi Associates Inc. before retiring 8 years ago. Upon his retirement he served as an architectural consultant to various firms. He had a strong love of his Italian culture, as well as a love of Italian food, music and art.

He leaves his beloved children, Livia Musumeci of North Providence, Michele and husband Anthony Marchetti of Lincoln and Siena and husband Dino Coppolino of Lincoln along with seven grandchildren whom he adored and cherished; Sierra Musumeci, Christina, AJ and Ryan Marchetti, and Christian, Gian and Luca Coppolino. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he adored as well as his companion, Luisa McCaghren. He was the brother of the late Anna (Mallozzi) DeVito, Louis Mallozzi and Emma (Mallozzi) Troiano

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February, 25, 2014 at 9:00 am at St. Augustine's Church, 639 Mt Pleasant Avenue, Providence followed by a private burial in St Ann's Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Visitation hours respectfully omitted. Burial will be private at the request of the family.
