Joseph F. Smith, Jr., 66, of North Providence, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Vanessa (San Martino ) Smith. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Joseph F. Smith Sr. and Elizabeth (McCauley) Smith.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Joseph A. Smith, Michael J. Smith and David N. Smith; a sister, Sandra Weir and four grandchildren, Alexia Smith, Jacklyn Smith, David N. Smith, Jr. and Matthew J. Smith.
Joseph had been a truck driver for Metals Recycling and D&N Trucking, both of Johnston. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 251; the Knights of Columbus, Lincoln Council and was a past member of the American Gold Wing Association Motorcycle Club. He served his country in the United States Army.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10am in the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. VISITATION Tuesday 4-8pm. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 Richmond St., Providence, RI 02903.
