JOSEPH DiNUNZIO 86, a lifelong resident of Providence, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence after a short illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie (Palumbo) DiNunzio. He was the devoted Father of the late Thomas J.J. DiNunzio. Born in Providence in 1920, he was the son of the late Francesco and Giovannina (Tasillo) DiNunzio.

Joseph was a WWII Veteran and served with the 10th Army Airforce in the China/ Burma/ India Theater. He was the recipient of the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross with many clusters. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 251 and was employed by RI Sand and Gravel for 27 years before his retirement in 1981. A communicant of St. Augustine Parish, Joseph was also a member of its Holy Name Society.

Besides his wife, he leaves two brothers, Louis and George DiNunzio; three sisters, Mary DiNunzio, Emma Antonucci and Anna Paolilli. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews who will miss him dearly. He was the brother of the late Angelina DiGiralamo, Philip, Egidio and Domenic DiNunzio.
Joseph’s life service was to God, his country and his family. He meant everything to his family and his family meant everything to him.

His funeral will be held Saturday, February 24 at 9 a.m. from MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence.VISITATION Friday 5-8pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, it would be sincerely appreciated if donations in his name be made to St. Augustine Church, 20 Old Road, Providence, RI 02908.
