Joseph Daniel Brennan

April 6, 1934 — July 30, 2013

Joseph D, Brennan, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. He was the beloved husband to Marilyn (McHugh) Brennan. They were married for 51 years.
He was son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Dudley) Brennan; Loving father of Joseph D. Brennan, Jr., and his wife Joan of Providence, Lynn Brennan of Cranston and Diane Page and her husband David of Cranston; Devoted grandfather to Courtney, Christopher, Caitlin, Nicole, Danielle and Meagan. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo and George Brennan, Mildred “Chickie” Huntoon and Barbara Callanan.

Joseph was a lifelong resident of Providence and retired from the Providence School Department after 28 years as a head custodian. Joe will be remembered most as a die-hard New York Giants fan and for his sense of humor. Joe & Marilyn enjoyed their many vacations on Long Boat Key, Florida.

His funeral will be held Friday, August 2, 2013 at 9am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street, Providence, RI 02903.
