Joseph L. Bombardier, Sr.

February 26, 1922 — October 31, 2012

Joseph L. Bombardier, Sr. age 90, of North Providence, RI, passed away peacefully amongst family on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. He was the son of the late Alexander and May Rose (Malo) Bombardier.
Joseph was employed with Collyer Insulated Wire for 29 ½ years before retiring in 1982. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving from October 31, 1942 through December 12, 1945 and was a member of the Eugene T. Lefebvre Post No. 1271, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Central Falls.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing checkers and horseshoes; once retired he enjoyed spending his summers in New Hampshire with his wife.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Viola D. (Jarest) Bombardier; children Geraldine McCurley, Mary Lou DeMonti, Mary Jane Smith, Susanne Bergeron, Dianne Cipolla, Cynthia Bombardier and Kenneth Bombardier. He was the father of the late Joseph L. Bombardier, Jr. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Edward, Roland, Joseph William Bombardier, Fedora Zwolenski and Marie Crum.
Dad you will always be respected and remembered for serving your country honorably; you will live on in our hearts forever and be truly missed. Love you always and God Bless You.
Visitation Friday morning, November 2, 2012 from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in The Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Please omit flowers; donations in his memory may be made to Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars, c/o Department of Veterans Affairs, 830 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, RI 02908.
