Joseph Amitrano

Joseph Amitrano, 88, of Cranston, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Cherry Hill Manor. He was the beloved husband of Anna F. (Proia) Amitrano whom he married in 1947.
Joseph was a truck driver for forty years and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 251. A member of the Knights of Columbus for 27 years, he had the longest tenure as Senior Grand Knight in the State of RI. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a Past President of the Holy Name Society of Holy Ghost Church in Providence.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughter, Lori Salvadore and her husband, David; two sisters, Corrine Amitrano and Anna Antonelli and two grandchildren, Joseph Salvadore and his wife, Francesca and Lorin Salvadore and her fiancé, Justin Serafin. He was predeceased by Carol, Louis, Vincent, Marie and Grace.
His funeral will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, Knight St., Providence. Visitation Friday 5-8 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., Providence, RI 02909.
