John Francis Vaillancourt

April 30, 1938 — December 9, 2014

JOHN F. VAILLANCOURT, Ret. N.P.P.D., 76, of North Providence, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Miriam Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Frances M. (Hamilton) Vaillancourt for 55 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Theovila and Flora (Cloutier) Vaillancourt.

John was a Lieutenant on the North Providence Police Department and was acting Captain before retiring and then becoming a self-employed Private Investigator. He was a member of the North Providence Fraternal Order of Police, Local 13 and the Commissioned Police Officers Association of RI.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Vaillancourt II, Ret. N.P.F.D. and Steven Vaillancourt; three daughters, Karen Vaillancourt, Sheila Vaillancourt and Kristen Orrall and her husband Karl; two sisters, Theresa Fairhurst and Claire Bartlett and four grandchildren, Ryan and Caitlin DeResta and Konnor and Kolin Orrall. He was the brother of the late George Vaillancourt.

His funeral service will be held Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITATION THURSDAY 4 - 7 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
