JOHN C. GUGLIELMETTI, 67, of Providence entered peacefully into eternal rest on November 14, 2013 at Roger Williams Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. He was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Carolyn T. (DiSanto) for 43 years. Born in and a lifelong resident of Providence, he was the loving son to the late Paul and Teresa (Scussell) Guglielmetti. He was the devoted father to Melinda “Mindy” and Paul Guglielmetti, both of Providence and the precious Papa to his cherished Boston Terrier, Baby Blue.
He is also survived by his sister, Joanna Cicilline of Greenville, RI and he was the brother of the late Paula Caito. In addition, he is survived by his Godchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
John was currently employed as a Compliance Officer at the Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston, RI. Previously, he worked at the RI Department of Health in the Food Chemistry Laboratory and was the former owner of Paragon Glass Works, a family manufacturing jewelry company founded by his father. He served in the RI Air National Guard from 1969-1975.
John graduated from Hope High School, having served as President of his Junior and Senior Class. He also played football for Hope High and was honored with being inducted into their Hall of Fame. In 1969, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Rhode Island and was a proud member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
He was an avid racquet ball player, enjoyed golf, playing in leagues and in many tournaments and loved the Yankees. He was affiliated with the LaSalle Academy Football and Basketball Teams, the Unified Basketball Team at Hope High School where he was dedicated to assisting his son Paul.
He adored his family and was dedicated to them. He also enjoyed the time spent with his friends and neighbors. A gentle soul, he gave of his heart and will leave a legacy of love and kindness.
All are invited to visiting hours from 4:00 -9:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence and to a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church on Atwells Avenue, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
