Jo Ann (Cornachione) Wood 63 passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013. She was the beloved wife of William Wood “Woody”. They were happily married for 42 years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Ida (Manzo) Cornachione.
Jo Ann was employed at Citizens Bank as a Repo Clerk before her retirement. She also ran as a candidate in North Providence for Town Council in District 1. She was a member of the Democratic Committee in North Providence. She was also an avid New England Patriot and New York Giant fan.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother Frank A. Cornachione Jr., of Hope Valley and a sister Camille A. Simas of Cranston. She is also survived by nephews, Anthony A. Simas, Nicholas A. Simas and a niece, Natalia Simas all of Cranston. She was the longtime friend of Sandra Mercer of Cumberland.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Mary Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be Friday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: American Heart Association, P. O.
