James K. Imonti, Jr., 59 of Carrboro, NC, formerly of Edgewood, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. He was the husband of Lovey King-Imonti. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James K. Sr. and Jennie (Ranucci) Imonti. He moved to North Carolina in 2002.

James worked as a jewelry distributor for his own company, Imonti Designs. He studied jewelry design at RISD and graduated in 1978 from the Jewelry Institute in Providence. He worked as a model maker for Trifari, Marvella, Monet, Swarovski and other jewelry manufacturers before starting his own business. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Holy Cross Church of God in Christ United.

Aside from James’ passion for family and friends, he was an avid runner and also enjoyed cooking, especially for his family and friends. He was a charming and optimistic soul, hopeful and inspiring to all who knew him. He will forever be loved and missed by all who were touched by his life.

Besides his wife of fifteen years, he leaves his children, Marcella Imonti, James Kenneth Imonti III, Julie Marie Imonti, Ashley Katherine Imonti and Kenya Lane Imonti; a grandson, Cedar Griffith Zev DeLacy; a sister, Joanne Silva and her husband John Silva; nieces, Lisa Silva, Jennifer and Lauren Hindley; a nephew, John Mark Hindley and an uncle, Costanzo Ranucci. He was the father of the late Emily Louise Imonti.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Service at 10am in Holy Cross Church of God in Christ United, 1014 Broad St., Providence. VISITATION Friday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
