Italo Fargnoli, 94, of Providence, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at home surrounded by his cherished family. He was the husband of the late Amelia (Ronzio) Fargnoli. Born in Sant’Apollinare, Italy, he was the son of the late Michele and Maria Grazia (Valentini) Fargnoli.
Mr. Fargnoli worked for Univise Optical for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Cranston Senior Center, enjoyed gardening, swimming and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his earlier years he enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was a generous donor to many charitable organizations over the years.
A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his two children, Michael Fargnoli and Marie Mackey; three grandchildren, Howard Mackey and his wife Kristine Tveten, Christopher Mackey and his wife Sheila and David Mackey; seven great grandchildren, Colby Amaral and Destinee, Naiya, Hanna, Mia, Alexis and Nora Mackey. He is also survived by his beloved companion of 40 years, Celeste Ripanti. He was the brother of the late Armando Fargnoli and Teresina Persechino.
Visitation will be held Monday Morning, September 26, 2016 from 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave., Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Fargnoli’s memory may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
