Irene Elby

Irene Elby (Stanish), 82, of North Providence, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Elby, Sr. Born in Johnston, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Theresa (Cambio) Stanish.

Mrs. Elby worked as a cashier for Stop & Shop before retiring and had previously worked for American Tourister.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas A. Elby and his wife Jeanne, Earl Elby and Anthony Elby; two daughters, Adele Gallo and her husband Albert and Dianne Lepore and her husband Michael; two sisters, Eleanor Turchetta and Theresa Stanish; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Alexander and Allen Elby and was predeceased by eight siblings.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday Morning, February 13, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
