Helen Amitrano (Fanelli), 95, of Providence, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Amitrano. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Egidio and Giuseppina “Josephine” (Cassiere) Fanelli.
Helen had worked for Woolworth’s Department Store in Providence as a clerk until her retirement in 1985. She was a wonderful cook and baker and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She leaves two sons, Louis Amitrano and his wife, Carmela and Joseph Amitrano and his wife, Karen; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a step-sister, Velia Ricci and her sister-in law, Carmela Fanelli. She was the sister of the late Frank Fanelli, Carmela “Millie” Calcagni and Anna Salvatore.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Pius Church, Eaton St., Providence. Visitation Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
