Guido R. Attanasio

Guido R. Attanasio, 96, of North Providence, passed away peacefully Monday, November 21, 2011 at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston. He was the devoted husband of Ann R. (Capizano) Attanasio. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Agostino and Letizia (Falasca) Attanasio.

Guido held positions with the US Postal Service, Quonset Point Naval Air Station and was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a life member of the Providence Federation of Musicians and had an illustrious career as a tenor saxophonist with many local and national orchestras. He was also an avid Yankee fan.

Besides his wife of 71 years, he leaves his treasured children, Richard Attanasio and his wife Elaine, Janice Verdone and her late husband Vincent; cherished grandson, John Attanasio; two brothers, Robert and Roy Battista and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Attanasio, Ray and Lewis Battista, Della Caldarone, Christina Zarro and Edith Sequino.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Visitation respectfully omitted. Burial will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association of RI, 260 West Exchange Street Suite 102B, Providence, RI 02903.
