Gennaro,“Gene” Calcagni, 83, of Providence, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Peter and Augusta (Pescosolido) Calcagni.
A Navy veteran of WW II, Gene had been the owner of the former Gene’s Garden Center in Providence.
He leaves a brother, Angelo Calcagni of Smithfield; five sisters, Filomena Campanelli and Anna Russo of Providence, Marie Arsenault of Smithfield, Eda Hayden of Delaware and Theresa Hendricks of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Levia Simonelli and Louise Calcagni.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:15 am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, Putnam Pike, Smithfield. VISITATION Friday 6-8 pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Please omit flowers.
