EVELYN, M. MONTANARO (LOFFREDO), 98, formerly of Narragansett, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Grand Islander Center, Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Montanaro. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Maria (Martellini) Loffredo.
Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother. Throughout her life, she worked at various jobs to help support her children’s tuition for college. Cooking was a favorite pastime as she cooked for all her family and friends with love and enthusiasm. She enjoyed many hobbies, especially crocheting and she frequently crocheted afghans and scarves for her friends and for charity. Evelyn was an avid reader and read the Providence Journal daily until her last days. She loved a good game of cards, but her favorite game was bingo.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Montanaro and David Montanaro; her daughter, Christine Montanaro; two sisters, Eleanor Cunha and Pauline La Fauci, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Arthur, Sylvester and Edward Loffredo, Melba Collins and Gloria Verardo.
Visitation will be held Thursday Morning, April 25, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Service at 10 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Grand Islander Residents Activity Fund, 333 Green End Ave., Middletown, RI 02842.
