Eleuterio "Larry" Gemma

ELEUTERIO “LARRY” A. GEMMA, 86, of Providence and Narragansett, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 surrounded by his cherished family at home. He was the husband of the late Gloria J. (Grossi) Gemma. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Angelina Gemma.

Mr. Gemma was the founder of Gem Plumbing and Heating, a business he and his wife established in 1949 and co operated. He was a master craftsman who in 1990 left his active role as president and worked alongside of his sons to grow the business to the success it has become today. He was a spiritual, hardworking, honest and humble man who enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially at the beach in Narragansett. Mr. Gemma had a passion for the outdoors, enjoyed gardening and traveling to destinations that primarily included Italy and Ft. Lauderdale by The Sea. He was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America – Troops 76 and 39, and the Mount Pleasant Little League.

A loving, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by nine children, Joseph A. Gemma and his wife Helene, Larry T. Gemma and his wife Susan, Leonard P. Gemma and his wife Elizabeth, Edward J. Gemma and his wife Kerri, Anthony P. Gemma, Maria A. Corcelli and her husband Robert, Joan R. Petterutti, Susan A. Gemma Molica and her husband Salvatore and Gloria J. Figueroa and her husband Francis X; twenty-two grandchildren; and eight great grandchilden.

His funeral will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. VISITATION SUNDAY 1 - 5 p.m. Mr. Gemma’s wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, 249 Roosevelt Ave. Suite 201, Pawtucket, RI 02860, an organization established in memory of his beloved wife.
