Edward Labadie, 76, of North Providence, a devoted uncle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Burrillville, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Louise R. (Ramieglio) Labadie.


A graduate of Rittner Floral Design School in Boston, he was employed as a floral designer for LaTour Brothers Florist of North Providence. He was a Korean War Era Veteran and served in the United States Army as a Corporal in the European Theater from 1952 to 1954. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the LeClaire Koslik Logan Bassett Post 6342 of North Smithfield. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his great nephews.


Edward leaves three nieces, Karen L. Shewcov and her husband Carl and Colleen A. Gosetti and her husband Guido, all of Johnston and Carol Couture and her husband Paul of Pascoag; a nephew, Lawrence J. Labadie, Jr. and his wife Diane of North Providence; two brothers, Lawrence J. Labadie and Albert C. Labadie; five great nephews, Nicholas J. Shewcov, Ryan C. Shewcov, Anthony J. Gosetti, Austin C. Gosetti and Alec B. Gosetti and three great nieces, Pamela Connors, Patricia Mattera and Kirah Rezendes. He was the brother of the late Mildred L. Keegan.


His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St Lawrence Church, Woonasquatucket Ave., North Providence. Visitation Friday 4-8 p.m. A Graveside Burial with Full Military Honors will be held in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
