EDMUND A. RESTIVO, 80, of North Providence, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jeanette “Jean” (Lamantia) Restivo for 59 years. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Mariano and Pasqualina (Pilozzi) Restivo.
Mr. Restivo was the owner and operator of Restivo Construction until his retirement. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the 101st Paratrooper Airborne Division and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Parachutist Badge. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 3 and the Disabled American War Veterans Association. He was Past President of the Sons of Italy Salvatore Mancini Lodge # 2440, Past President of the Sons of Italy Grand Lodge of Rhode Island, Past National Trustee of the Sons of Italy Association, Past Treasurer of the Verrazano Day Committee and served on the Committee of The National Sons of Italy Foundation. He was also Past Chairman of the North Providence Planning Board, a Lifetime Member of Our Lady of Charity Club, former Coach of the North Providence West Little League and the North Providence West Softball League and was a Longtime President of the Lees Farm Condo Association.
He was the beloved father of Edmund A. Restivo, Jr. and his wife, Susan, Thomas M. Restivo and his wife Claire, Teresa P. Eagan and her husband Thomas, the late John M. Restivo, Jean F. Monti and her husband Steven and Susan M. Craven and her husband Robert. He was the Proud Papa of 13 grandchildren, Alaina Goldberg, Michael, Jon, Nicholas, Daniel and Alexander Restivo, Christopher and Matthew Eagan, Amanda DiMagistris, Laura and David Monti, Robert, Jr. and Joseph Craven and 6 great grandchildren, Emilia, Julia, Brynn, Sadie, Brody and Luca who was just born on Thursday. He was the brother of Dolores Caparco and the late Francesco “Frank” Restivo, Anthony Restivo and Anna Catanzaro.
Papa Ed was a devoted family man in every sense. He lived for his family and had a special bond with and influence on each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He especially cherished the many family gatherings and loved to banter and joke around with his grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and missed by all of his family.
His funeral will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 at 8:45a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Ave., Providence. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
