Edith Ascenzi

EDITH ASCENZI (PALUMBO), 100, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015. She was the wife of the late Joseph Ascenzi. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Theresa (Trillo) Palumbo.

Edith is survived by her loving children, Vincent J. Ascenzi and Beverly A. Villella. She was the loving nana to four grandchildren, Gina DiIorio and her husband Jim, Peter Villella, Jr. and his wife Jennie, Bianca Ascenzi and Damon Ascenzi and five cherished great-grandchildren, Samantha, Jordan, Vanessa, Gregory and Juliana. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Edie” to many nieces, nephews and her extended family and was the dear and loving aunt to special nieces, Jo-Ann, Jackie and Lydia. She was the mother-in-law of the late Peter Villella and sister of the late John Palumbo, Rudolph Palumbo, Lena DelFino and Hilda Berlam.

Visitation will be held MONDAY MORNING, January 26, 2015 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Ave., Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Ascenzi’s memory may be made to Holy Cross Church Memorial Fund, 18 King Philip St., Providence, RI 02909.
