Domenic A. Tessaglia, 83, of Johnston, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Susan (Cipolla) Tessaglia. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Armand and Armina (Trapassi) Tessaglia.

Domenic was the Owner and President of Precision Woodworking in Providence, which he founded in 1959. He retired in 2002. He was a master carpenter and cabinet maker. Everyone he knew has something he made or fixed in their home.

A Navy Veteran of WWII, he served on the USS Randolph which participated in the battle of Okinawa and was part of the occupation force following the surrender of Japan. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Ribbon (3 stars) and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was a CYO Basketball Coach at St. Augustine School and a Baseball Coach for Mt. Pleasant Little League. Through his company, he sponsored many youth athletic teams, most notably Precision Woodworking Baseball team in the Newport Sunset League. He was a founding member of the Parents Association of LaSalle Academy and was an avid Yankee fan. He also enjoyed and cherished his summer day trips to Saratoga Race Course.

He leaves three sons, Armand Tessaglia, Raymond Tessaglia and his wife Janice and Robert Tessaglia; a sister, Louise Paine and three grandchildren, James, Edward and Sydney Tessaglia. He was the brother of the late John Tessaglia.

His funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. VISITATION Thursday 4-7 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
