Diamond Tagliatela “Dippy”, 91, of Providence, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the beloved husband of Joanne F. (Calise) Tagliatela. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Nassa) Tagliatela.
Mr. Tagliatela worked in jewelry manufacturing for Vargas, Rappaport and Klitzner Manufacturing before retiring. He was a 70 year member of the San Bernardo Society and had served as treasurer of the club for many years.
Besides his wife of 64 years he is survived by his daughter, Patricia M. Schiappa; a son, David P. Tagliatela; four grandchildren, Michael Schiappa, Alisa Schiappa-Gobee, Daniel Tagliatela and Alexander Tagliatela; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Filomena DiRaffaele and Margaret Moretti. He was the brother of the late Domenic and Emilio Tagliatela.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI Funeral Home 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Tuesday 4-7 p.m. Please omit flowers.
