DAVID P. SORMANTI, SR., 57, formerly of Providence, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 after a long battle with kidney disease. He was the son of the late Dante and Lillian (Renzulli) Sormanti. He was the stepson of Mary (Blair) Sormanti.
He worked at the Rhode Island School of Design for over 20 years and received many commendations for his dedication to duty.
David was the loving father to his son, David P. Sormanti, Jr. and his wife, Patrizia of Hartford, Ct. and was predeceased by a son, Joseph Anthony Sormanti.
He was the brother of Diane Sormanti-Longtin and her husband, Richard; Michael A. Sormanti and his wife, Elisa; and the late Stephen W. Sormanti. He was the stepbrother of Margaret (Sormanti) Osborne. He was uncle to Nic St. Clair and Michael J. Sormanti.
David’s dry and stinging wit, which he lavished on friends and family, will be missed.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 9 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 1493 Cranston St., Cranston. Visitation Friday 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
