Dante J. Sarro, 85, of Johnston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was the husband of the late Christine A. (DeFusco) Sarro. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Raffaele and Lea (Guglielmo) Sarro.
Dante served in the RI Army National Guard and worked as a landscape foreman and stone mason for many years until he retired at 80 years old. He enjoyed gardening and was a great sports enthusiast, but was happiest spending time with his children and his family.
He is survived by his son, Daniel R. Sarro; two daughters, Kathleen A. Brown and her husband Albert and Karen A. Cappelli and her husband Martin. He was the beloved grandfather of Daniel G. and David B. Sarro, Christina A. and Albert H. Brown and the late Dante M. Cappelli. He was the brother of the late Frank, Alfonso, Joseph and John Sarro and Olga Simonelli.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 9 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St Mary Church, 538 Broadway, Providence.
