Daniel Germani "Dante", 91, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Heritage Hills Nursing Centre in Smithfield surrounded by his family and the many friends he made there. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Libro and Maria (Protano) Germani. Daniel is survived by his wife Yolanda (Crugnale) of 62
years.
He was a veteran of the 2nd World War, serving in Europe as a member of the 81st Engineers Battalion. He was a self-employed carpenter all of his life, working alongside his brother Armand under the name "Germani Brothers" until his retirement at the age of 84. An avid golfer, he was a member of Triggs Golf Course in Providence. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards, listening to music, spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed eating food prepared by his wife. He was an avid baseball fan and was a dedicated fan of the New York Yankees.
Daniel is also survived by his son, Daniel R. and his wife Patricia Germani of Greenville; his granddaughters Lauren and Alicia Germani; his brother Armand and his sister Rose. He is predeceased by his son Stephen; brothers Domenico "Tommy" and John Germani and sisters Anna Crugnale, Evelyn Heston and Olga Germani.
Visitation at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. His funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Heritage Hills Activity Fund, 80 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
