Cornelius C.“Red” McNulty, 75, of North Providence, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Sarah A. “Sally” (Cunningham) McNulty. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Helen (McCaffrey) McNulty.

He had been a Senior Procurement Specialist at the Turnkey Post Office in Providence for 30 years until retiring in 1992. A Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean
War, he retired from the Corps as a result of a combat injury and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association # 132, the D.A.V. Chapter 1 of Providence, the Marine Corps League, the Order of the Purple Heart and the Elks Lodge of Smithfield. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master and Past Grand Marshall of Roger Williams Lodge 32 AF&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Providence, the RI Shriners and the Royal Order of the Jesters # 107.

Red is survived by two sons, Scott W. McNulty and his wife Laura and Neil C. McNulty; a brother, Bernard J. McNulty and a sister, Patricia A. Kelly and two devoted grandchildren, Jeremy and Alexander McNulty. He was the brother of the late Eugene F. McNulty.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9am, from the Maceroni Funeral Home 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., Providence Visitation Sunday 4-8pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Rhode Island Shriners, 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston, RI 02905.
