With all his family by his side, Christopher Peter Pagliaro left this world peacefully on Friday, Decemeber 21, 2012. He was the husband of Claire F. (Linehan) Pagliaro and along with her, he was surrounded by his loving family, Christopher F. Pagliaro and his wife, Doreen, Claire M. Restivo and her husband, Thomas; David J. Pagliaro and his wife, Lisa and Susan M. Glod and her husband, Chris. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Joanne Pagliaro.
He was the proud papa of ten grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Alex Restivo; Leah, Daniel and Jake, all of Cumberland; Ryan, Connor and John Pagliaro of Smithfield and Alaina Pagliaro of VA.
He was also predeceased by his parents, Angelina (Conca) Pagliaro and Frank Pagliaro; sisters, Beatrice Cola, Madelyn Gavazzi, Rose DiFiori, Esther Panzetta and brother, Rocco Pagliaro.
Chris was employed at the Providence Journal Newspaper for thirty-four years. He had voice training in his younger years and was a featured singer in a variety show at the Providence Journal. Throughout his later years, he continued to work at various part-time jobs until his mid-eighties.
Chris was athletic in every sense of the word, and known as “Lefty” by his various teammates. An avid swimmer, he and his family enjoyed the beaches in South County every summer. Dancing brought Chris and Claire together in 1949 at Rhodes On-the-Pawtuxet. During their fifty-seven years together, dancing was always a great enjoyment.
Chris was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Maloy during the Normandy Invasion. A Gunner’s Mate, Chris enjoyed traveling to Europe in the Navy as well as becoming a successful boxer and singing in Navy shows.
His funeral will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9: a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Ave., Providence. Visitation Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
