Charles W. Canning

CANNING, CHARLES, W., 87, of Mt. Pleasant Ave, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Maria Evelyn (Calderone) Canning. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Lillian T. (Lannon) Canning.

Charles was a railroad worker for Amtrak for 43 years. He was a Past Commander of the VFW Elmwood Post as well as a member of the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a step-son, Robert A. Plante; two sisters, Doris McNulty and Helen Kilduff, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave. Burial will be private. Calling hours respectfully omitted. Please omit flowers.
