Charles F. “Chuck” Vierling, 67, of North Providence, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rita (Cassidy) Vierling.
Charlie was a graduate of La Salle Academy, Providence College and Perkins Institute in Boston. He became a teacher of the visually impaired and taught for many years in Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York and Alaska where he flew all over the State to teach children in the Alaskan wilderness. He had always been involved with the American Red Cross and upon returning to Rhode Island, he became very active in the organization, teaching life saving methods.
He is survived by his son, Raymond Vierling; two daughters, Jennifer Vierling and Charmel Beyers; a brother, Paul J. Vierling and his wife Mary Jeznach-Vierling; three sisters, Gretchen Vierling-Cutlip, Barbara A. Vierling and Virginia R. Vierling; seven grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by family and all who had the opportunity to have known him.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple, 671 Greenville Ave., Johnston. Burial will be private.
