Charles T. Smith

Charles T. Smith, 82, of North Providence, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Golden Crest Nursing Centre. He was the beloved husband of Anna F. (DiPippo) Smith. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harry and Alice (Massey) Smith.

Charles was a sales representative for Paramount Restaurant Supply. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War with the 152nd Fighter Squadron and later was a member of the R.I Air National Guard. He was an active member of the RI State Troopers Association and was a former member of North Providences’ Certified Emergency Response Team.

Besides his wife of 54 years, he leaves a son, Charles T. Smith and his wife, Michele; a daughter, Patrice M. Weaver and her husband, Thomas; a brother, Robert Smith; three grandchildren, Kelly Smith, Charles J.M. Smith and Kim M. Newton and two great grandchildren, Kirsten and Ryan Newton. He was the grandfather of the late Thomas Weaver III and the brother of the late Harry Smith, Jr. and Margaret Smith.

His funeral and visitation will be held Tuesday morning, November 15, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, Fourth St., North Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence, RI 02911 or to RI State Troopers Association, RI State Police Headquarters, 311 Danielson Pike, Scituate, RI. 02857.
