CAROLYN PICANZA, 91, of Warwick, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella (Gianatti) Picanza.
Carolyn was a 1945 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, a graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing, received her Bachelors Degree from Boston College and a Masters Degree in Nursing Science from Boston University. Her 40 year nursing career began at St. Joseph Hospital and later continued at Rhode Island Hospital as well as Jane Brown where she ended her career as Director of Nursing Education.
She is survived by her nephew and caretakers, Wally Musto and his wife Pattie and loving great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Julia Musto and Marie DeKevich and was the aunt of the late Carol Ann Brouillard and Ann Marie DeKevich.
Visitation will be held Wednesday MORNING, January 21, 2015 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 1493 Cranston St., Cranston. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
