Antonio "Tinny" Rosa

September 21, 1919 — June 24, 2014

ANTONIO J. ROSA “TINNY”, 94, of Providence, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was the husband of the late Anna (DaRocha) Rosa. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Angelo and Domenica (Romano) Rosa.

Mr. Rosa was the co-owner of Triangle Service Station in Providence and later in North Providence for over three decades. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was the recipient of many decorations and citations for his dedicated service. One of his fondest military memories was the time he spent in Alaska working on the Alaskan Highway before being transferred to the European Theatre. In addition, he was an avid New York Yankees fan.

He is survived by a son, Anthony A. Rosa and his wife Paula; three daughters, Dolores Kimball and her husband Dan, Arlene Rosa and Barbara Quattrocchi and her husband Joe; two brothers, Salvatore “Chubby” Rosa and Vincent Rosa; two sisters, Virginia Moreau and Theresa DiCicco; five grandchildren, Joey, Kerry, Michael, Rocco and Joseph and nine great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Al, Angelo and Peter Rosa, Cosmo, Michael, Joseph and Antonio Mantia, Lena Young, Mary Traversa, Ida Coia, Rose DaRocha and Carmella DiCarlo.

Tinny, as he was called by both family and friends, was the most kind, loving, caring and generous person you could ever meet and will be sadly missed.

His funeral will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITATION Sunday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fruit Hill Day Services for Elderly, 399 Fruit Hill Ave., North Providence, RI 02911.
