Antonio "Tony" DiGregorio

November 20, 1917 — May 18, 2015

Antonio “Tony” DiGregorio, 97, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 18, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Lorenzo) DiGregorio and loving great-grandfather of the late Dominick Comia DiGregorio. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Emidio and Maria (Profenna) DiGregorio.

In 1930, Tony’s father began Michael DiGregorio & Company, a family business that he later ran by himself. Antonio and his dad built their home in North Providence in 1950, where he continued to reside until his passing. Tony enjoyed baking in his retirement years and everyone looked forward to his wine biscuits and lemon cookies that he shared with everyone. He also loved reading, making wine and planting vegetable gardens every year up until a few years ago. He was an Army Veteran in the 94th Infantry Division serving proudly during WWII.

He is survived by his loving children, David A. DiGregorio and his wife Tiyang, Maryann Campagnone and her husband Fred and Carol J. Hutchinson and her husband Tom. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Jessica, Sean, Daniel, Anthony, Gabriel and Michael; dear great-grandchildren, Christopher, Matheau, William, Isabella, Lucy and Jaden and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Archangela Volino, James, John, Dante and Sam DiGregorio.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 8am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours will be Friday, May 22nd from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
