Anthony R. Traini

Born in Arquata del Tronto, Italy, on November 20, 1923, he was a son of Saverio and Marta (Cortellessi) Traini. He lived for many years in Leominster, Massachusetts, and of late in North Providence, Rhode Island.

He is survived by his wife, Rose M. (Celli) Traini, to whom he was married for 63 years. He is also survived by his son, Anthony M. Traini and his wife Joyce of Rhode Island, his daughter, Rosemary Traini of Massachusetts, and grandson Michael, of Massachusetts. He is also survived by two sisters, Augustina Pellechia of Massachusetts, and Eve Greene of Florida, and a brother, Albert Traini, of South Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Betty Preville of Massachusetts, Carol Shorey of Georgia, and Rita Bisol, of Georgia.

Mr. Traini was a machinist and tool and die maker for over 40 years and worked for several companies making molds for the plastics industry in Leominster. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters, and was awarded three battle stars, for the invasions of North Africa, Salerno, and Iwo Jima. He also received the World War II Victory Medal, the European-African Campaign Medal, the American Area Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was a lifelong member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and the Sons of Italy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI, Friday, February 15, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private, calling hours respectfully omitted. Donations in his name may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, New England Chapter, 72 River Park St. Suite 202, Needham, MA 02494.
