Anthony J. Scotto, 69, of North Providence, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Newsham) Scotto. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Caranci) Scotto.
Anthony was a driver for Caranci’s Bakery for 30 years and later worked as a custodian for the North Providence School Department for 10 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Anthony J. Scotto, Jr., Daniel Scotto and Steven Scotto; a daughter, Jacqueline Scotto; a brother, Jerald Scotto and five grandchildren, Austin, Devan and Elliot Scotto-Goon, Samantha Scotto and Angelica Aldrich.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m., from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, Fourth St., North Providence. VISITATION Friday 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1210 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI 02920.
