Amelia L. ( D’Arezzo) Carlevale-Martinelli, 89, of Dean St., Providence, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Friday, February 8, 2008. She was the wife of the late John B. Carlevale and the late Harry A. Martinelli. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Guiseppi and Rosina (Geremia) D’Arezzo, she had lived in Providence her entire life.

Mrs. Martinelli had been employed as a custodian for many years in the Providence School Department until retiring in 1983. She had previously worked as an assembler at Jewel Case Manufacturing for many years. She was a member of the Federal Hill House Senior Center and was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Providence.

She leaves a son, John M. Carlevale, Sr. and a daughter, Dawn M. Carlevale and was the mother of the late Ronald B. Carlevale. She also leaves five grandchildren, Veronica C. Roddy, John M. Carlevale, Jr., Gary A. Martinelli, Renee Bentley and Rhonda J. Martinelli and nine great-grandchildren, Connor, Taylor and Caitlyn Roddy, Ryder Carlevale, Kylan, Capri and Anthony Martinelli and Savannah and Nicholas Bentley. She was the sister of the late Carmine, Joseph and Malo D’Arezzo; Antonia Ginolfi-Nicoletti; Filomena Carnevale-Ruscetta, Anna Zoglio and Lena DeFanta.

Amelia was caring, loving, generous and so much more. Her philosophy of life can be best summed up by two Beatles’ songs: “All You Need Is Love” and “We Get By with A Little Help From Our Friends”. Her greatest features seemed to be in people’s loving reactions to her. Everybody loved Amelia.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 13th at 10am, from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Anthony Church, Plainfield St., Providence. Visitation Tuesday, February 12th from 4-7pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the St. Joseph Living Center, 153 Dean St., Providence, RI 02903 where she resided since 2003 and received end of life care by very caring and competent professionals.
