AMARIO DiORIO, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 26, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorotea E. DiOrio. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Domenic and Cecilia (Signorelli) DiOrio.
Mr. DiOrio was a Pharmacist and co-owner of Oaklawn Pharmacy on Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston for 45 years before retiring. A graduate of LaSalle Academy, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Providence College. He was also a graduate of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and Allied Sciences. He was the President of the Rhode Island Pharmacists Association in 1961-1962, and received the Bowl of Hygeia award for outstanding civic leadership in 1967. He was a member of Warwick Country Club for many years.
He is survived by his loving children, Joseph M. DiOrio and his wife, Denise, Cecilia Paschall, Maria F. Dwyer and her husband, Robert, Dorothy Hartnett and her husband, Robert Jr., and David P. DiOrio and his wife, Joan. He is also survived by a brother, Domenic DiOrio Jr. and cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Robert III, Alisha, Zachary, Allesandra, David, Francesca, Danielle and Joseph Jr. He was the brother of the late Ann Pepe, Connie Ruggieri, Frank, John and Alfred DiOrio.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 8am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours will be Friday, October 3rd from 4pm-8pm.
