Alfred A. Lamy

ALFRED A. LAMY, 82, of North Providence, passed away suddenly at his summer residence in Brewster, MA (Cape Cod). He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (DeLuca) Lamy for 57 years. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Emile and Elizabeth (Perry) Lamy.

Mr. Lamy graduated from Providence College in 1953with a BS degree and earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1960. He worked as a Regional Sales Manager for Rohm & Haas and later for Ciba Geigy, before retiring. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Mr. Lamy served on the Board of Trustees of Providence College and St. Mary’s House for Children. He was active with the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Sons of Italy, Providence College Alumni Association and directed the Cape Cod Lifesaving Competition for over 40 years. Providence College remained dear to him throughout his life and he was an avid Friar Basketball and Hockey Fan.

Besides his wife he leaves a son, Richard Lamy and his wife, Aimee; two daughters, Patricia Smolley and her husband, Gregory; Marianne Zinzarella and her husband, John; six grandchildren, Danielle and Brian Lamy, Christopher, Andrew, Anna and Thomas Zinzarella; a sister, Eileen Kenna and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Lamy.

Visitation hours for Alfred A. Lamy will be held on Tuesday, June 4th between 4:00 and -7:00 p.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial will be Private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alfred A. & Barbara J. Lamy Scholarship Fund for Deserving Students at Providence College or The Reverend Thomas Ertle O.P. Scholarship Fund, 1 Cunningham Square, Providence, RI 02918.
