Alexander M. Longo, 89, of Texas Ave., Providence, passed away peacefully on February 2nd , 2008. He was the son of the late Martino and Teresa (Durante) Longo.
Mr. Longo was a WWII Veteran of the European Conflict. He worked for the US
Postal Service and was the owner of Professional Realty Co. He was devoted to his family and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, DAV, ITAM, Sons of Italy, American Legion, St Augustine Cathlolic Parish and DaVinci Center.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laura (DiNapoli), daughters, Kathy Cardente and Cindy Placella and son in law, Steve Placella. Proud Papa to Bryan and Christopher Cardente , Matthew and Nicole Placella, Jared, Breanna, Kendra and Brayden Cardente. Also survived by dear cousin, Babe Pherigo, niece, Dee Dee Zednik and nephew, Marty Gauthier. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister,
Frances Gauthier and his dear nephew, Artie Gauthier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, February 7th at 11:00am in St. Augustine Church, 635 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Our Risen Christ Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to WWII Monument Committee, 408 Broadway, Providence, RI 02909.
